Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley tour Itinerary
Cusco - Chinchero - Moray - Maras Salt Mines - Urubamba - Aguas Calientes
Your trip begins with pickup from your hotel in central Cusco at approximately 7:00 a.m. Our first stop will be in Chinchero, where you'll meet friendly llamas and alpacas and watch a demonstration of textile weaving on looms.
We'll continue our tour of the Sacred Valley to discover the incredible ruins of Moray. Marvel at the ancient agricultural terraces, which were the center of Inca cultivation. Next, we'll visit the Maras salt mines, approximately a 45-minute drive from Moray. There are more than 3,000 salt pits still used by the locals.
We'll continue to Urubamba to enjoy a buffet lunch featuring local Andean flavors. Afterward, we'll visit Ollantaytambo, known for its enormous terraces, ceremonial center, and original water channels. After our guided tour, we'll board the train to Aguas Caliesntes (Machu Picchu town). Upon arrival, it's time to relax at your hotel and prepare for the next day.
Machu Picchu guided tour - Return to Cusco
Start the day early with breakfast at your hotel before taking the first bus to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, enter the citadel with your guide and begin an approximately 2.5-hour tour of Machu Picchu, where we'll explore the main attractions according to the itinerary.
Your guide will explain the history, engineering, and cultural significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you've reserved tickets to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (reservations required), you can also enjoy the incredible panoramic views.
After the tour, you will return to Aguas Calientes by bus. You will have free time before boarding our train to have lunch on your own, go shopping, or explore the town. We will then return to Ollantaytambo. From there, our private transportation will take you back to Cusco, where we will arrive around 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu tour FAQs
Do I need a tourist ticket to take the Sacred Valley tour?
Yes, you will need a Cusco tourist ticket to visit the main attractions of the Sacred Valley. You can buy it for 70 PEN at the first archaeological site you visit. If you have a complete ticket for 130 PEN, you can also use it to visit the attractions of Cusco.
Is altitude sickness a problem?
Machu Picchu is lower than Cusco, so few travelers suffer from altitude sickness. The Sacred Valley tour is ideal for acclimatization, as it’s easy to complete, so you shouldn’t have any problems. We recommend spending a few days acclimatizing in Cusco; this will help you even more.
How can you get from the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes?
After visiting the entire Sacred Valley tour, you’ll board a train in Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll spend the night. The next day, we’ll travel from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu, right at the entrance gate, for your guided tour.
When is the best time to do 2 day Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Tour?
The best time to visit Cusco depends largely on your preferences. The dry season (April to October) is generally considered the best time to visit Cusco, due to the clear skies and low rainfall. Remember that this is also peak season, so prices and crowds are higher. During the rainy season, it can be a good choice if you don’t like crowded tours, and prices are lower.

Train Information
Trains are booked based on availability. We have several options:
- Expedition Train
- Voyager Train
- Vistadome Train
- Vistadome Observatory Train
Accomodation
The basic tour reservation will be at a 3-star or 3-star S hotel in Aguas Calientes. Upgrades are available if you prefer more expensive accommodations. This is also subject to availability. Please consult with an advisor for additional costs depending on the hotel.
Entrance tickets to Machu Picchu
To be the best for our guests, we initially booked tickets for Circuit 2, the best option for classic photos. However, tickets are subject to availability because they sell out quickly, especially during peak season. Otherwise, we could offer Circuit 1, which will give you a more panoramic view of Machu Picchu. Finally, we offer Circuit 3, which visits the entire citadel without the option of classic or panoramic photos.
Politics in Machu Picchu
Drones and backpacks larger than 20 liters are not allowed, so you will be required to leave your luggage. We recommend leaving your bags in Cusco. We can also store them at Marfes if you wish. We also recommend not bringing trash and being very respectful of the tour and the archaeological sites.
