Flight to Cusco - Welcome to the Heart of the Andes

After breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport for your short flight from Lima to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire. Upon arrival at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, our team will be waiting to greet you and take you to your hotel in the historic city center, where you will be welcomed with the incredible coca tea, a natural remedy for altitude sickness. Experience the altitude and acclimatize.

Cusco is a high-altitude city. Take the rest of the day to acclimatize (3,400 meters / 11,155 feet). Stroll through Cusco's charming cobblestone streets in the evening, or even better, enjoy the incredible lights at night. Visit places like the Plaza de Armas and San Pedro Market, and have a light dinner in the city center. Cusco has incredible cuisine, with many restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy more coca tea.

We recommend a relaxing day to allow your body to adjust to the altitude. If you're feeling very ill, you can consider stopping at a pharmacy to take something for altitude sickness. If you're feeling better, you can take a light hike or get dressed downtown. This is the perfect opportunity to prepare for the exciting adventures that await you.

Get ready for one of Peru's most impressive hikes! Today, you'll visit the Seven Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca, Cusco's second most popular destination. This natural wonder is famous for its colorful stripes and panoramic Andean landscapes.

Depending on time and energy, you can also explore the nearby Red Valley (optional, not included; please inform in advance). Peru Itinerary 10 Days FAQs

The best time of year is during the dry season, from April to October. This period offers several clear skies and excellent weather for visiting Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, and Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain. This is also true for activities in Ica and Paracas, but you’ll need to book in advance; the itinerary is very reserved, and tickets, especially to Machu Picchu, sell out quickly.

Yes, because of that, we recommend spending the entire first day in Cusco acclimatizing and going at your own relaxed pace. That’s why we give you the day off to adjust (3,400 m / 11,152 ft). It also helps to drink coca tea, stay hydrated, avoid heavy meals, and take some light walks in the city.

Yes. The itinerary combines cultural tours, light adventures, and natural sites. Families will enjoy destinations like the Ballestas Islands, Huacachina, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu, accessible and comfortable for all ages.

Yes, our personalized reservations are our specialty. When booking through Marfes Tours Peru, you can adjust your accommodations, add more nights, reduce days if you’re short on time, skip certain stops, or upgrade your train class to Machu Picchu. If so, we recommend sending us a support form or contacting us via WhatsApp and speaking with a specialist. If you book online, you’ll receive the basic package.

The Vinicunca hike is moderately difficult due to the altitude (5,036 m / 16,522 ft), but the distance is short. It’s important to acclimatize, and if necessary, you can rent a horse to make the hike easier. ATVs are also available for an additional fee; contact a specialist.

The standard package includes a round-trip Expedition or Voyager flight. Upgrade to the Vistadome Observatory costs an extra fee, but the panoramic views and onboard entertainment are absolutely worth it.

Most entrance fees are included, including the most important ones: Machu Picchu, Moray, Rainbow Mountain, and more. For some itineraries, such as the Sacred Valley or Cusco City Tours, you’ll need to pay a BTC fee, which costs a full 130 PEN.

Yes, just like with trains, our basic package includes 3-star S hotel accommodation. If you’d like to upgrade to a 4-star or 4-star S hotel, you’ll need to contact a specialist to discuss the price.
