Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Arequipa – City Tour & Santa Catalina Monastery
Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.
At the scheduled time, you will be picked up for the city tour, starting at 2:00 PM.
You will visit the Plaza de Armas, a beautiful square with a bronze fountain featuring a 16th-century soldier. You will also admire the Cathedral and the Cloisters of the Jesuit Church. The tour continues with a visit to the Santa Catalina Monastery, a former place of strict religious seclusion that remained closed to the public for centuries. Now restored, it offers a glimpse into life in Arequipa during the 17th century. You will explore its streets, gardens, stone washbasins, and sillar walls.
Next, you will visit the scenic countryside of Carmen Alto and the Yanahuara Viewpoint, which offers stunning panoramic views of the city and its surrounding volcanoes: Misti, Pichu Pichu, and Chachani.
Overnight in Arequipa.
Day 2: Arequipa – Chivay + Lunch
After breakfast, you will depart early in the morning for the Colca Valley, located in Caylloma Province at 3,600 meters (11,811 ft) above sea level.
On the way, you will pass through Yura District and Pampa Cañahua, a natural reserve where vicuñas can be observed. You will also see the remnants of the Chucura Volcano Crater before reaching Patapampa, the highest point of the journey at 4,800 meters (15,748 ft), offering breathtaking views of Arequipa’s volcanoes.
Upon arrival in Chivay, you will check in at the hotel and have time for lunch.
In the afternoon, you have the option to visit the La Calera Hot Springs.
Overnight in Colca.
Day 3: Chivay – Cruz del Cóndor – Arequipa
After breakfast, you will head to the Cruz del Cóndor, a spectacular viewpoint where you can admire the majestic flight of the Andean condors and the depth of the Colca Canyon (3,400 meters/11,155 ft deep).
On the way back, you will visit Pinchollo Village, the Pre-Inca Hanging Tombs, the Litomaquetas (rock carvings), and the traditional towns of Maca, Yanque, and Chivay.
Return to Arequipa in the afternoon.
Overnight in Arequipa.
Day 4: Arequipa – Departure to Lima
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Lima.
