FAQ's About Peru Travel Packages

Don’t worry about planning your trip to Peru anymore. We’ve compiled all the frequently asked questions our travelers ask every day to make your trip easier. Whether you’re planning a package or booking with Marfes, we’re sure to answer many of your questions here.

No, as a citizen of the United States, Canada, London, and most European and African countries, you do not need a visa to enter Peru. Peru’s entry policy does not require a tourist visa. It’s important to remember that entry is only allowed for 183 days (6 months). After this, you will need a visa to remain in the country. It’s also important to remember that your passport must be valid for the next 6 months from the date of entry.

Some hikes, like the Inca Trail, require a passport valid for 6 months as well, so a valid passport is highly recommended. Otherwise, there are no additional complications for entering Peru. We still recommend that you check the official Peruvian government link or consult with your consulate to see if you can enter Peru with just a passport for 183 days.

The best time to visit Peru is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. The advantage of traveling during these months is that there is no rain, the skies are clear, and there is generally more sunshine, making it very beneficial for trekking. However, it’s important to remember that it’s peak season, so there will be many crowds and all the attractions will be full.

November through April is considered the rainy season, and January and February are the months with the most rain, although this period varies from year to year. If you choose to travel during these times, you’ll experience fewer crowds, find cheaper tickets and admission, and enjoy abundant flora.

To fully explore Peru’s best attractions, you need at least 5 to approximately 14 days. Our Peru travel packages have a classic combination of Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and Machu Picchu. All include Machu Picchu, unless you choose a customized package that doesn’t. If you want something longer, hiking or other adventures will require a few more days.

We offer all-inclusive Peru Travel Packages. We have 3 to 5-star hotels with special agreements to get the best price for you, as well as eco-lodges and boutiques where you can stay according to your tour preferences.

Of course, if you want something more personalized and can’t book it through our website, contact one of our advisors via WhatsApp or by sending an email using one of the forms included on the website, or by sending an email to reservas@marfestoursperu.com or reservas1@marfestoursperu.com
We specialize in tailor-made Peru packages, whatever type of adventure you desire—luxury, adventure, or culture—we operate them, so don’t worry, we’ll take care of your trip.

All treks in Peru are physically demanding, but the difficulty varies depending on whether you choose between single- or multi-day treks. Humantay Lake and Rainbow Mountain are demanding one-day treks, considered moderate. However, if you choose a multi-day trek like Salkantay, the Inca Trail, or Lares, they are more difficult due to the longer duration. We recommend acclimatizing in Cusco and preventing altitude sickness if you suffer from it. At Humantay Lake and Rainbow Mountain, you can find horses for an additional fee if you feel very ill.

In your Peru Travel Packages, we’ll welcome you with coca tea, a natural remedy for altitude sickness. But take it easy; everyone is different. The best recommendations are to drink plenty of water, continue drinking coca tea for the days you’re here, and get plenty of rest. Don’t drink alcohol or smoke, and don’t eat heavily the first few days.

No, it’s only highly recommended for traveling to Peru. It’s important to plan for situations during your trip, such as medical emergencies, lost luggage, flight cancellations, and many other situations that insurance covers.

Yes, all the meals specified in our itineraries are included. Depending on the tour you choose, we have buffet options, local cuisine, and everything you need to experience authentic Peruvian cuisine. Any other type of food you wish to try will be at your own expense.

The currency used in Peru is Peruvian Soles (S/PEN). There are many ATMs near the hotel, and you can also exchange money at banks, at the airport, and at authorized currency exchange offices located throughout the cities. Many places accept international credit cards and charge in dollars, but it’s highly recommended to have both soles and cash, especially when traveling to an urban or rural area, such as Machu Picchu or the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Be sure to check the exchange rate online before making the offer.

Peru is generally safe for the most part, however, it doesn’t hurt to be cautious. Always choose restaurants and companies with good ratings. If you have a guided tour, always follow and listen to your guide. If you’re walking alone in the city, take care of your belongings. As we mentioned, Peru is a safe place, but prevention will make your trip more comfortable and enjoyable. At Marges, we make sure you have no worries!
